Fond Memories

It was exactly 7 days ago that Mr. Code Enforcement came to visit. I'm anxious to see if I get another visit today. We will see. Personally, I think my yard is looking mighty spiffy this morning. I had so much energy last week, that I even planted flowers. I bought a flat of Moss Rose (which I absolutely love) and planted them in the flowerbed with the Zinnias that are now blooming. And I planted some in a pot on my porch and I bought a couple of annual Hibiscus that I put in the two pots that flank the stairs coming off my porch. Here's some photos:

I know... that last one had nothing to do with my flowers, but it's a darn funny picture that was still on my camera when I transfered the flower photos.

I'm really glad to see you have bounced back successfully from the "code enforcemet" fiasco. I absolutely agree that you are right and that they were wrong/petty/haters, but remember these timeless words:

Nill illigitimi carborundum - Do not let the bastards get you down

I always get sad when I think about other people like that. I'm really impressed that you took a bad situation and made something good out of it for yourself (even if prompted by that sack of shit). Heh heh--in fact, you could say that that "sack of shit" is what made your garden grow! =^D

Congratulations on persevering. The secret to happiness is not to avoid stuff like that, but to find ways to rise above it. So in addition to the even-more-beautiful yard, you have also given yourself the gift of happiness. One nice thing about getting older is you start to understand that some of life's good things come in the form of a bitter pill. It sounds like you choked on it a bit (we all do, believe me!), but you played through it and did something good for yourself. Furthermore, this situation resulted in a rallying of support from your loved ones (always a wonderful thing) and at least for me, a bit of inspiration. So thank you for "taking one for the team"--your life, and those lives you touch, have all been enriched, in a small but real way, by that sack of shit. You are a genuinely good person, and that's why other genuine people genuinely care about you.

You almost make me look forward to the next s-o-s I will run across... almost! :)
